Quill & Wing

The short version
Quill & Wing runs on your Mac. Your letters, your replies and your mail account credentials stay on your Mac. We do not run a server that receives your mail, we do not have accounts, the app collects no personal information, and we sell nothing to anyone. The only personal information we ever hold is what you send us if you write to support.

What the app accesses
To carry your letters, Quill & Wing connects directly from your Mac to the mail provider you choose.
Gmail. You sign in with Google and grant the app permission to send mail on your behalf and to read mail so it can find replies to letters you have sent. This connection is made by the app on your device. Your Google credentials are handled by Google's own sign-in flow; the app stores only the resulting access tokens, saved on your Mac and encrypted with a key protected by the macOS Keychain.
iCloud. You provide an app-specific password generated by Apple. It is saved on your Mac, encrypted with a key protected by the macOS Keychain, and used only to connect to Apple's mail servers from your Mac.
Quill & Wing reads message headers and metadata to identify which messages are Quill & Wing letters or replies to them. Only Quill & Wing letters and replies appear in Deliveries. Reading or deleting a received letter in Quill & Wing does not change its read status or delete it in your mail account.
What is stored, and where
- Mail account credentials and tokens: on your Mac, encrypted with a key protected by the macOS Keychain.
- Your letters, drafts and delivery history: in the app's local storage on your Mac.
- Your settings: on your Mac.
None of this is transmitted to us. We operate no servers that store your mail, your contacts or your credentials. Deleting the app does not necessarily remove this data; to erase it, use Remove local data in the app's Settings before you delete it. You can also revoke the app's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page or your Apple Account security settings.
Google user data
Quill & Wing's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained from Google is used only to provide the features you see in the app — sending your letters and delivering replies to them. It is not transferred to anyone except as necessary to provide those features, and it is never used for advertising, sold, or used to train machine learning or AI models.
What we do not do
- No user accounts, and no sign-up with us.
- No analytics, telemetry, tracking pixels, advertising identifiers or third-party SDKs that profile you.
- No selling, renting or sharing of personal information. We have nothing to sell.
- No reading of your mail by us or by any person at Ken Wallace Films Inc. We cannot see it.
Purchases
Quill & Wing is sold through the Mac App Store. Apple handles the transaction and gives us only anonymous, aggregated sales reports. We never see your name, address or payment details. Apple's handling of that information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
This website
www.quillandwing.com is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which may include your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting. We do not use those logs to identify you.
If you email us
If you write to support, we keep your message and address for as long as it takes to help you and to keep a record of the conversation. We do not add you to a mailing list. Letters sent through the Support form on this site are delivered to us by Formspree, which processes your name, email address and message for that purpose under its privacy policy.
Crash reports
If you opt in to sharing crash diagnostics with Apple, those reports go to Apple and may be shared with us in anonymized form. They contain technical information about the app, not the contents of your letters. You can turn this off in System Settings on your Mac.
Children
Quill & Wing is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
The app sends us nothing, so there is nothing from it for us to export or delete on request. You control everything the app touches: revoke its access at your mail provider, or use Remove local data in Settings and delete the app from your Mac. The one thing we may hold is your support correspondence; if you would like it deleted, or if you are in the EU, the UK or California and believe we hold other information about you, write to QuillandWing@stolenidol.com and we will respond.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
